Flexible Cleaning Operative – Balerno Community High School
Hours:
20 per week
Salary £26,205 - £26,525 (pro rata for part time)
4‑8pm Monday – Friday (52 weeks)
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team, delivering vital cleaning services across our estate to ensure that our properties remain safe, clean places to work or learn. - Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Perform emergency and re‑active cleaning as required – e.g., removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
- Care for and maintain all equipment used to perform the above duties.
- Other tasks reasonably related to the role, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings where required.
- Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet overall agreed standards.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an overseas criminal record check will be required.
An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
