This is a part‑time, on‑site Stair Cleaner role based in Edinburgh. The Stair Cleaner will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining stairwells, landings, and communal areas in residential or commercial buildings, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and wiping down surfaces such as handrails, skirting boards, and doors. The role includes emptying bins, removing litter, spot‑cleaning walls and glass, and ensuring that floors are free from hazards such as spills and debris.
The Stair Cleaner will follow agreed cleaning schedules, use provided equipment and materials safely, and report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety concerns to a supervisor. The position may also involve occasional deep‑cleaning tasks and working independently to ensure that standards of cleanliness and hygiene are consistently met.
- Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or facilities maintenance, ideally in stairwells or communal areas.
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules, instructions, and health and safety procedures, including safe use of cleaning products and equipment.
- Good attention to detail, reliability, and a consistent approach to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical ability to carry out manual tasks, including climbing stairs, lifting light equipment, and working on feet for extended periods.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and a professional, respectful attitude toward building users and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work agreed part‑time hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on business needs.
- Basic understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality when working in residential or community settings; prior experience in a community‑focused or social enterprise environment is an advantage.
