Cleaning Operative – Currie Primary/Nursery
Salary £26,205‑£26,525 (pro‑rated for part‑time and sessional)
Hours:
10 per week, 38 weeks sessional – 17:30 to 19:30, Monday‑Friday
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team. You will deliver a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn. - Empty litter and recycling bins
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables
- Emergency and reactive cleaning as required (e.g. removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages)
- Care for and maintain cleanliness of all equipment used in carrying out duties
- Other tasks as reasonably required, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings where needed
- Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet agreed standards
Keyholding:
You will be a key holder, enabling opening and closing of buildings, operating security alarm systems, securing windows and doors, switching off lights, and ensuring premises are left safe and secure.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If you have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
An unconditional offer and commencement will depend on satisfactory outcomes of these pre‑employment checks.
