Salary: £43,696 plus 15% shift allowance (£3,000) and location allowance. Permanent contract. Full time, no remote work.
- Perform scheduled maintenance activities on rolling stock within a Train Maintenance Centre environment in accordance with vehicle maintenance instructions.
- Undertake servicing and preparation of rolling stock.
- Drive vehicles within depot confines following depot operating procedures.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and procedures.
- Ensure exam tasks are completed promptly, and undertake fault rectification or repair when required.
- Adhere to all health and safety processes and procedures.
- Attend testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
- Travel and stay overnight away from base location for short periods of time as needed.
- Support Maintenance Team Leaders and Duty Shift Managers in delivering the production plan.
- Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
- Work shifts to meet the service requirements of multiple customers.
- Manual handling, COSHH, working at height, powered plant and tools.
- Experience of working a 24/7 shift roster in a modern maintenance environment.
- Outstanding safety awareness.
- Modern fault‑finding and repair techniques using PC‑based laptops and remote diagnostics.
- Extensive experience with modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and reliability/availability trend analysis.
- Proficiency reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings.
- Served apprenticeship with mechanical and electrical disciplines or equivalent engineering NVQ Level 2 and 3.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and produce detailed reports.
- Professional representation of Hitachi, calm and diplomatic under pressure.
- Commitment, confidence and determination.
- Intermediate IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Fire warden, first aid qualifications.
- Working at height, COSHH, manual handling, AC/DC depot isolation.
