Cleaning Operative – Ratho Primary School
Salary: £26,205 – £26,525 (pro‑ra for part‑time and sessional)
Hours:
10 per week, 40 weeks sessional
Working pattern: 6 am – 8 am, Monday‑Friday
About the roleAs a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team, delivering vital cleaning services across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn. - Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Provide emergency and reactive cleaning as required (e.g. removal of graffiti, body‑fluid spillages, accidental spillages).
- Maintain the care and cleanliness of all equipment used in carrying out the above duties.
- Support cleaning tasks across other buildings when required.
- Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement so that agreed standards are met.
- Act as a key holder for opening and closing buildings, operating security alarm systems, closing accessible windows and doors, switching off lights and ensuring premises are safe and secure when closing.
The role is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
An unconditional offer of employment will be subject to the outcome of both checks being deemed satisfactory.
