Overview
Cleaning Operative – Prestonfield Primary School
Salary: £26, - £26, (pro-rata for part-time and sessional).
Hours:
10 per week, 40 weeks sessional. Working pattern for the position: 5pm – 7pm, Monday – Friday.
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team. You will deliver a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure properties are safe and clean places to work or learn. This role offers secure and flexible employment with competitive conditions, while supporting work–life balance.
Responsibilities- Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Provide emergency and reactive cleaning as required (e.g., graffiti removal, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages).
- Care for and maintain equipment used in cleaning activities.
- Undertake other related tasks and support cleaning across other buildings as required.
- Meet cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to achieve agreed standards.
* Facilities Management has overall responsibility for keyholding to enable opening and closing of serviced buildings. In this role, you may be required to be a key holder to perform duties, including operating security alarm systems, opening/closing buildings, switching off lights, and ensuring premises are left safe and secure at closing.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If you have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
