The Faculty of Advocates is one of Scotland's most ancient and prestigious organisations with a vibrant professional body of practising Advocates. The Facilities Department has a key role in supporting the organisation, working in a busy operational team to provide the Office Bearers and Members of Faculty with a high level of service. The vacancy below has arisen within the Facilities Department based in Edinburgh.

Salary:
Grade 4b: £28,262 - £34,354 per annum

All new appointments will be made at the start of the salary scale

Hours: 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday: 4.00pm - 12.00am
(Some weekend working will be required to cover annual leave on occasion)

This position will report to the Deputy Faculty Superintendent and is responsible for managing and developing a team of eight including four Evening Cleaners and four Night shift Security/Cleaners. The postholder will be responsible for creating and managing rotas, including holiday scheduling ensuring adequate cover 365 days per year. They will monitor team performance and timekeeping, providing regular feedback, support and additional training where required.

They will also ensure that all HR records, including training records and personal development documentation are maintained accurately and in line with organisational requirements.

Working closely with the Deputy Faculty Superintendent, the successful applicant will help develop and maintain an agreed cleaning programme and security procedures. The post holder will be responsible for ordering cleaning stock and updating any new products with regards to COSHH documentation.

The successful applicant will oversee and assist where required with the cleaning of offices, communal areas, stairwells, washrooms and other areas across all Faculty sites; ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness are maintained by conducting cleaning audits on a daily and weekly basis

The post holder will be expected to provide holiday cover at the weekend covering an 8.00am to 8.00pm shift. Although the role has an agreed number of working hours each week, the successful applicant must be willing to work flexibly and adjust shift patterns on occasion to meet the operational demands of the service.

The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience, ideally gained within a cleaning or facilities environment. A full clean driving licence is essential. A valid first aid qualification is desirable; however, training will be provided for candidates who do not already hold this qualification.

A basic level of Microsoft Office computer literacy is essential, as well as excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
