Location:

George Watsons College, Edinburgh, 69 Colinton Road, Edinburgh, EH10 5EG

Days/Shift Pattern:
Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend support)

Working Hours:

40hrs per week
Salary: £37,000 - £38,500 per annum depending on experience

Perks:
Immediate start opportunity, Monday to Friday working pattern, Free lunch on site, Two weeks off over the Christmas period

We're looking for a hands‑on Domestic Cleaning Manager to lead our cleaning operation at George Watson's College in Edinburgh
.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cleaning Manager who enjoys leading people, maintaining high standards, and making a visible impact every day.

We welcome applications from candidates with experience managing large cleaning operations and teams in a range of environments, with a strong focus on service excellence and people leadership.

What you'll do:

  • Manage and develop a team of cleaning professionals, creating an engaged and high‑performing culture
  • Be visible across site daily, monitoring standards, coaching colleagues and supporting operations where needed
  • Plan rotas, manage staffing levels, absence and annual leave
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training for the cleaning team
  • Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
  • Manage cleaning schedules and workforce management systems
  • Maintain strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, COSHH and company standards
  • Manage cleaning supplies and budgets effectively

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience managing large cleaning teams
  • Strong people leadership and performance management skills
  • Experience working in a standards‑driven or compliance‑focused environment
  • Knowledge of health & safety and COSHH regulations
  • Experience conducting audits and risk assessments
  • Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and deploy resources effectively
  • Facilities Management or contract management experience
  • IOSH, NEBOSH or FM‑related qualifications
  • Experience working with audit and compliance systems
