Reporting to: Chief of Staff, Scottish Greens Parliamentary Group
The Scottish Greens Parliamentary Group are looking for an experienced policy lead and campaigner to join their central team of staff supporting the group's MSPs. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the work of the group through a period of growth.
This is a new role which forms part of the senior management team and involves line managing a team of research and campaign officers, whilst working closely with MSPs and staff across offices to ensure group strategy is delivered through all policy and campaigns work.
Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure group research and policy work is joined up, performance driven, and coordinated with individual MSP staff teams.
- Linemanaging a team of three Research and Campaign officers, and work closely with other staff to maximise research capacity across MSP offices.
- Develop strategic campaigns for the group, working closely with MSPs and the Head of Communications to implement agreed campaign plans.
- Ensure policy and campaigns inform a strategic approach to group parliamentary business, working closely with the Chief of Staff and Group Co-ordination Manager.
- Work with the research team and portfolio holders to track legislation, agreeing on strategic priorities, and handling across key bills.
- Implement regular monitoring and evaluation of campaigns, ensuring learning is used to consistently refine and improve group strategy.
- Identify areas for policy development, and work with researchers, MSPs, internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent and high-quality policy development.
- Experience of working in a political, public affairs and/or campaigns environment in a senior role.
- Experience of line management.
- Experience of delivering successful proactive campaigns, and a strong understanding of what makes a public campaign succeed.
- Understanding of the Scottish political landscape and an interest in politics.
- A quick learner with the ability to multitask and work within tight timescales.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A good understanding of the Scottish Parliament and parliamentary process, including experience influencing legislation.
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver successful campaigns.
- Strong relationships across the policy landscape in Scotland.
