An exciting opportunity has arisen within Network Management and Enforcement for the permanent appointment of a performance driven Inspector within the Council's Parking Controls team to support the delivery and maintenance of a wide range of parking management schemes aimed at improving safety, reducing congestion and providing parking opportunities for a range of road users. Fulfilling a key role within the Parking and Traffic Regulation service area, the successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic and will be able to progress a challenging and varied workload.

The Parking Controls team are responsible for managing requests for significant numbers of Yellow Line restrictions from across the city and managing the Council's Disabled Persons Parking Places and Access Protection Marking services. The Parking Controls team also have responsibility for progressing amendments to the existing Controlled Parking Zones as well as the Strategic Review of Parking, which provides the foundation for considering new Controlled Parking Zones across the city.

Main activities will include undertaking road/carriageway site inspections (a full driving licence is essential), managing and succinctly recording and reporting findings to inform decision making, identifying process improvements and building and maintaining working relations with a range of multi-disciplinary colleagues and stakeholders at a range of seniority levels.

The successful candidate will be able to maintain high levels of accuracy, and to balance competing priorities in-order to meet challenging deadlines. They will have excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal , and will be experienced in successfully managing sometimes difficult customer interactions.

This will cover all aspects of Parking Control management, from overseeing the removal and implementation of new parking signage, road markings and other Parking Controls infrastructure as required. The post holder will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring works carried out by external contractors are completed to a high standard.

The role offers an excellent pension package and leave entitlement.

This position is subject to Basic Disclosure check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
