Shift Pattern: 3 on, 3 off | 04:00–16:00

Make flights happen. On time, every time.

At gategroup, we're proud to be the world's leading airline caterer, delivering millions of meals to passengers around the globe. Our Broxburn facility plays a vital role in ensuring airline catering operations run smoothly, coordinating transport from Glasgow to aircraft across Scotland.

We're looking for a proactive and hands on Duty Manager to join our team in Broxburn. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a transport or logistics background who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems and can make confident decisions to keep operations moving.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring deliveries are coordinated efficiently, safely and in line with operational and security requirements. You'll work closely with drivers, loaders and colleagues across our Glasgow and Edinburgh sites to deliver a reliable service to our airline customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Transport Operations: Coordinate vehicle movements, manage loading schedules and monitor fleet standards to support on-time deliveries.
  • Operational Compliance: Complete temperature checks, vehicle documentation and required operational checks, ensuring procedures are followed.
  • Search & Seal: Oversee load verification and security sealing, ensuring shipments meet the required standards and resolving any associated queries.
  • Site Security: Act as the Site Security Representative (SSR), supporting compliance with aviation security procedures.
  • Problem-Solving: Respond to delays, operational disruptions and unexpected challenges, making timely decisions to minimise impact on service delivery.
  • Safety & Standards: Maintain high standards of operational safety, vehicle compliance and adherence to driving regulations.
  • Team Coordination: Provide direction and support to colleagues on shift, ensuring priorities are clear and work is completed effectively.

This is a hands-on operational role rather than a desk-based position. You'll need to be visible across the facility, adaptable to changing demands and confident taking ownership of issues as they arise.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can combine strong organisational skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

  • Experience in transport, logistics or a similar operational environment.
  • Previous management, supervisory or operational coordination experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and sites.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands and remain calm under pressure.
  • A strong commitment to safety, security and compliance.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating 3-on, 3-off shift pattern, with 04:00 starts.
  • Knowledge of aviation or airside operations.
  • Experience working within aviation security, compliance or risk management.
  • Familiarity with vehicle administration, fleet coordination or load security procedures.

You won't have direct line management responsibility, but you'll play an important role in coordinating the shift, supporting colleagues and ensuring operational priorities are delivered.

Why Join gategroup?
  • A rewarding operational role: Play a key part in keeping airline catering operations running smoothly.
  • A balanced shift pattern: Enjoy a 3-on, 3-off rota, giving you regular blocks of time away from work.
  • Career development: Explore opportunities to progress across sites and into wider operational management roles.
  • A global organisation: Join an international business with a strong presence across the aviation catering industry.
  • Make a real impact: Contribute directly to service delivery, operational performance and customer satisfaction.
Right to Work & Background Checks

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to successfully complete the required pre-employment screening, including a DBS check and five years of checkable references.

Ready to take the next step? If you have the operational experience, confidence and drive to help keep our transport operation moving, we'd love to hear from you.
