Lead one of Scotland's most significant food service operations.

At Bidfood, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s leading food service providers, supplying thousands of customers across hospitality, healthcare, education and workplace sectors.

We’re now looking for an exceptional Head of Operations to lead our Edinburgh operation.

This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a significant multi-site operation and play a key role in delivering our growth ambitions across the Scotland & North of England region. Reporting to the Business Unit Director, you’ll lead a workforce of around 250 colleagues across Edinburgh, Larbert and Inverness, shaping the culture, performance and long‑term direction of a strategically important part of our business.

We’re looking for a leader who can inspire people, drive commercial performance and create an environment where colleagues can perform at their very best.

The Opportunity

The Head of Operations is the most senior operational leader for our Depot operations, with overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and profitable running of the Edinburgh depot, alongside leadership oversight of our smaller sites in Larbert and Inverness.

Leading teams across warehousing, transport, customer service and site support functions, you’ll ensure we continue to deliver outstanding service to customers whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and colleague engagement. The role carries full responsibility for operational performance, financial delivery and the ongoing development of our management capability across the three sites.

As a key member of the Scotland & North of England regional leadership team, you’ll help shape strategy, drive continuous improvement and ensure our operations are well positioned to support future growth. Regular travel between sites will form part of the role.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading the overall operational performance of the Edinburgh, Larbert and Inverness Depots.
  • Delivering budget, profitability and operational KPI targets.
  • Creating a highly engaged, accountable and high‑performing culture.
  • Developing and coaching a strong operational management team.
  • Partnering with Sales and other business functions to support customer growth and retention.
  • Driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across the region.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of health & safety, compliance and governance.
  • Leading operational and organisational change initiatives and embedding sustainable improvements.
About You

You’ll be an experienced senior leader from a logistics, distribution, FMCG, food service, manufacturing, retail supply chain or similarly fast‑paced environment.

You will bring:

  • Experience leading large, complex operations through senior management teams.
  • Proven responsibility for operational and financial performance, including budget or P&L accountability.
  • A track record of improving operational performance through the effective use of data and KPIs.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience developing high‑performing teams.
  • Experience of leading significant operational, organisational or cultural change.
  • The ability to balance commercial objectives with service excellence and colleague engagement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the credibility to influence at all levels.
  • A visible, authentic leadership style that inspires confidence and accountability.
