The roleThis position is a crucial part of the initial stage of biscuit production. It is a hands‑on, fast‑paced, highly team‑orientated environment where clear communication is essential. The role requires strong common sense, the ability to follow processes accurately, and the confidence to work independently when needed. Each shift starts with reviewing the rota sheet to know which line or plant you are assigned to, followed by checking the recipe sheet to ensure the mixing machinery is set correctly.
Keyaccountabilities
- Work from recipe sheets to set up and operate the mixer correctly.
- Ensure ingredients are added in the correct order and quantity as specified.
- Conduct quality checks on the mixture, including consistency, colour, and texture.
- Measure and add “Add‑Ons” – additional chemical ingredients (e.g., soda, salt) that must be measured and added manually.
- Assist the Chemical Maker with preparing and delivering chemical mixtures to the mixer.
- Retrieve bulk ingredients from the warehouse and move them to the mixing and storage facility using pallet trucks.
- Minimum age 18.
- Full right to work in the UK (students must be able to demonstrate this).
- Numerate and literate, with good written and oral communication skills.
- Able to work in a fast‑paced, team‑focused environment.
- Understanding of hygiene principles in a food manufacturing environment (training provided).
