Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Cleaning Operative who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The role is based at the Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre and involves cleaning rolling‑stock vehicles and TMC facilities to the highest standard according to cleaning manuals. The position is permanent and works nights.

Salary
: £25,029 plus a 15% shift allowance (£3,000) and location allowance, on a permanent contract.

• Clean Hitachi Rail customer rolling‑stock vehicles and TMC facilities to the highest possible standard.
• Undertake general duties, varying in complexity, as required.
• Complete work within an agreed time frame.
• Ensure all work meets the highest possible standard.
• Maintain accurate records associated with work performed.
• Attend relevant health & safety training courses.
• Participate in Hitachi Rail centrally driven activities.
• Adhere to Hitachi Rail Europe’s policies and procedures.
• Implement the Hitachi Rail Health and Safety policy.
• Execute any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as required by business needs.

• Pass a local track safety test and a drink & drugs test.
• Good understanding of English with effective oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to working as part of a respectful and professional team.
• Knowledge of health & safety requirements in a working environment.
• Awareness of and active promotion of Hitachi’s ethos, culture, and values.

• At least 1 year of cleaning experience, ideally within a similar environment (full training is available).
• BICS training.
• Previous health & safety awareness training.
