HSB Technical Ltd is a specialist recruiter within the Power & Propulsion, Shipbuilding, Maritime Shipping, Energy and Subsea sectors. We have several permanent and contract vacancies available UK-wide.
This vacancy is being advertised by HSB Technical Ltd, who have been appointed to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a growing marine engineering business based in Scotland.
The Role
We are looking for two experienced, time-served Mechanical Fitters with a strong understanding of mechanical drawings and previous experience working within a workshop environment.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the overhaul, inspection and repair of marine propulsion and deck machinery equipment, working to deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
* Overhaul marine propulsion and deck machinery units within a workshop environment.
* Work to milestones and deadlines set by the Workshop Manager and provide regular progress updates.
* Interpret and work from mechanical drawings.
* Safely operate a range of workshop machinery, including lathes and milling machines.
* Carry out inspections and quality-control checks using calibrated equipment.
* Complete workshop inspection and overhaul reports.
* Ensure all stock and components used are recorded and communicated to the stores team.
* Liaise with the stores team regarding consumable stock levels.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
* Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
* Use downtime productively through training and implementation of best working practices.
* Support and train apprentices.
* Complete other ad hoc duties as required.
Requirements
* Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings is essential.
* Time-served mechanical fitting experience.
* Previous experience working within a workshop environment.
* Good communication skills.
* Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
* Highly motivated and proactive approach to work.
* Valid driving licence.
* Mechanical apprenticeship qualification is desirable.
* Marine, propulsion or heavy engineering experience would be advantageous.
