Vegware, a Novolex brand, is a trusted provider of plant-based compostable food service packaging. Based in Edinburgh and sold worldwide, we operate across the UK, EU and USA.
Our range includes everything from hot and cold cups, lids and napkins to cutlery, tableware and takeaway packaging. Made using renewable, recycled or reclaimed materials, Vegware products are designed to be industrially composted alongside food waste.
We also support customers through our Close the Loop service and award‑winning environmental consultancy, helping businesses find the right routes for composting and improve packaging disposal outcomes.

How You’ll Perform the RoleVegware’s goal is to become the world’s best known brand of environmental food service packaging. The purpose of this role is to deliver this goal - creating the brand and its delivery strategy by providing inspiring materials that enhance our position and drive sales in the markets where we operate.
At Vegware we work to support our 9001 Quality & 14001 Environmental ISO standards as well as our B Corporation status.
Duties and key responsibilities:
- Work alongside the Vegware and Eco-Products leadership teams to develop and execute our marketing and communications strategy. Work with Novolex colleagues as appropriate to share best practice and ensure our output meets Novolex policies and aims.
- Continuous development of communications and marketing materials in a wide variety of formats to enhance and promote the Vegware brand with a combination of innovation and continuity, in line with market and industry trends and legislation. Ensure our content creation and online presence presents a barrier to entry for potential competitors. Working alongside the leadership and relevant colleagues, play a key role in enhancing the Vegware brand, as needed.
- Work with Novolex, Eco-Products and Vegware colleagues to implement industry best practice in multi‑channel digital marketing which achieves our brand and commercial aims.
- Build, motivate and mentor the Comms and Creative teams to ensure effective working, excellent team communication and high levels of productivity in a varied and fast paced role. Work with leadership and HR to plan resourcing needs, according to company plans.
- Support and work with the Environmental team to ensure effective and strategic marketing communications relating to their work.
- Work closely with the Sales team to ensure they have the materials they need to succeed, preparing a wide variety of print and electronic materials and collaborating in effective campaigns. Be part of ensuring exceptional and mutually beneficial support and service, provided to Vegware’s UK and international partners and key clients.
- Manage marketing budgets, and provide reporting, documentation and analysis support for other business functions.
- Manage the marketing and communications aspects of projects in conjunction with other teams, such as new product launches, key client relationships, direct email marketing, trade shows.
- Project management as needed i.e. Vegware’s attendance at one or more large trade shows, translation of marketing materials, website revamp, events or promotions.
- Maintain a strategic view on PR opportunities and award entries to ensure the Vegware brand is exceptionally well placed and understood in our target markets.
- Engage in public speaking events and networking as appropriate.
- Have a positive, committed and inventive mental attitude to problem solving.
- Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of Vegware’s products and services, along with looking for new opportunities.
- You will take a lead in ensuring your teams follow good working practices, i.e. group e‑mail inboxes are managed and monitored effectively, with information flowing to the right part of the company. Be a role model in the championing of IT systems for greater efficiency.
