Job Description & How to Apply Below

EMMS International is seeking an experienced Head of Communications to join one of Scotland’s longest-serving international healthcare charities.

Working with partners across India, Malawi, Nepal, Rwanda, Scotland and Zambia, EMMS improves access to healthcare for vulnerable and hard-to-reach communities.

This is an exciting time to join. EMMS has a new communications strategy, is undertaking a major rebrand and will shortly begin development of a new website. Working closely with the Director of Communications, you will play a key role in delivering this next phase.

You will lead on areas including:

  • Digital communications, social media and audience growth
  • Roll-out of the new brand and messaging
  • Development and ongoing management of the new website
  • Fundraising campaigns, appeals and supporter communications
  • Content creation and storytelling
  • Media and stakeholder communications
  • Performance monitoring and analytics
  • Production of EMMS’s annual Impact Report

We are looking for someone with strong digital communications experience who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You will be an excellent writer, confident managing multiple audiences and channels, and understand how communications can drive engagement, profile and income.

Experience of digital marketing, social media, websites, campaigns, analytics and content development is particularly important. Knowledge of international development would be advantageous but is not essential.

Benefits

EMMS offers an 8% employer pension contribution, flexible working, 25–30 days’ annual leave plus public holiday provision, life assurance, access to an Edinburgh office and potential international travel.

The successful candidate must live in Scotland and have the right to work in the UK.

How to apply

Please send a CV and covering letter, each no longer than two pages, to by noon on Sunday 11 October 2026.

Interviews will take place in Edinburgh on Wednesday 28 October 2026.
