Low Carbon Communities Officer

About the Role

Looking for a new role where you can really make a difference? The Low Carbon Communities Team at Change works is a small, dynamic team that focuses on exploring how community engagement can support householders to become more energy efficient and actively supporting people to move towards action. The team delivers energy advice projects across Scotland, with the support of local partners and national funders, and tests different approaches to community engagement to understand where the greatest impacts can be achieved.

We’re looking for a Low Carbon Communities Officer to help smoothly and successfully deliver community-based energy advice projects across Scotland. In this role, you’ll work with local partners and directly with communities to make energy advice more accessible, with a particular focus on supporting people in rural areas and minoritised ethnic communities. You’ll help manage projects, engage local stakeholders and help develop new approaches to community engagement that support households to tackle fuel poverty and decarbonise their homes.

• Highly organised, comfortable working across multiple projects and keen interest in designing new approaches to community engagement.
• Strong communicator, enjoy working with project stakeholders and the public.
• Experience working with minoritised ethnic communities and tailoring support to meet their needs.

The Climate Emergency has resulted in ambitious national targets to reduce carbon emissions from the built environment and reduce rates of fuel poverty. This has driven a significant increase in the number of pilot and large-scale interventions delivered by Change works and external organisations in this area. These include area‑based domestic energy efficiency retrofit and decarbonisation projects and programmes.
