After a historic Holyrood Election in 2026, the Liberal Democrats in Edinburgh are looking for a campaign organiser to be the lynchpin in our campaign for the city council elections in May 2027 and beyond. This is a role focussed on running – and winning - an ambitious campaign to put more gold on the map.
Working with an experienced team you will also develop your experience of delivering results in high-pressure, target-driven campaigns in a setting that will open opportunities in a political party, an advocacy organisation, membership body, trade union, charity, or comparable campaigning environment.
This is a great opportunity to take on a high-profile campaigning role with some of the most ambitious local parties in Scotland.
Job Description Key roles and responsibilities include:- Taking overall responsibility for delivering the agreed citywide campaign plan.
- Building campaigning and organisational capacity – including recruiting members, donors, deliverers and poster sites.
- Building and managing a team of volunteers who oversee all aspects of capacity building and campaigning.
- Designing and delivering an ongoing programme of doorstep communication with voters.
- Assisting with the design, production, print, and coordination of the delivery of campaign literature.
- Maintaining relevant databases e.g. deliverers, donors, poster sites etc.
- Organising events e.g. action days, social events, etc.
- Maintaining and updating social media, website and other digital infrastructure.
- Supporting fundraising and assisting with fundraising campaigns and events as required.
- Attending relevant conferences, training and other meetings as required.
The following criteria are considered essential:
- Exceptional personal organisation.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, mobilise and manage volunteers.
- Excellent written communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, self-motivating and able to manage own workload.
- Familiarity with current issues within UK politics and sympathy with the values and principles of the Liberal Democrats.
- Experience in delivering effective Liberal Democrat campaigns.
- Experience of Liberal Democrat software and databases (e.g. Affinity Publisher, Nation Builder & Connect)
- Understanding of GDPR, data protection and regulations relevant to political campaigning
The post is intended to be full time, but we will consider applications for a part time role.
