Development Officer

Part time - hybrid - permanent

This role will lead and support the development of innovative programmes and partnerships designed to reduce the harms caused by tobacco and nicotine use. A key focus of the post will be helping advance ASH Scotland's emerging Whole Household Approach, working with health boards, local authorities, third-sector organisations and community partners to strengthen support for individuals and families affected by smoking-related harm.

The postholder will also contribute to work focused on smoke and vape-free environments, protecting workers from second-hand smoke exposure, reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for children and young people.

The role offers considerable autonomy and the opportunity to shape new projects, build strategic partnerships, support consultation and engagement activity, develop resources and training materials, and contribute directly to policy and practice development across Scotland.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Experience of developing and managing partnerships across sectors.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience of research, consultation or evidence gathering.
  • The ability to develop practical resources, reports and engagement materials.
  • Confidence in facilitating collaboration and supporting change within organisations and communities.
  • An understanding of health inequalities, public health, community development or related fields.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a small team.
