Job Description:

As a Registered General Nurse working in the prison healthcare system in Edinburgh, you will play a crucial role in delivering healthcare services to inmates. This role provides an excellent opportunity for nurses who are looking for stable and consistent work in a unique healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Nursing: Provide a wide range of nursing care to inmates, including assessments, monitoring, treatment, and health education.

  • Medication Management: Administer and manage medications, as well as ensure proper documentation and compliance with medical protocols.

  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies within the prison, providing immediate care and coordinating with emergency services when necessary.

  • Chronic Disease Management: Assist in managing chronic conditions among inmates, such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.

  • Health Promotion: Educate inmates on various health topics, promoting overall well-being and healthy lifestyles.

  • Collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, psychologists, and social workers, to deliver comprehensive care.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in accordance with healthcare and prison regulations.

  • Security and Safety: Follow all security and safety protocols, ensuring the safety of both staff and inmates.

  • Qualifications:

    • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid license in the United Kingdom.
    • A strong commitment to delivering high-quality care to all patients.
    • Excellent clinical assessment and communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a secure and challenging environment with compassion and professionalism.
