The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner primarily within the Flow Centre, Outpatients and Associated Services but will also rotate through the Emergency Department, RIE and the Same Day Emergency Service, WGH as part of the acute services Redesign of Urgent Care model.

Work within the Flow Centre as part of a hybrid clinical team of lead advanced nurse practitioner, advanced nurse practitioner/trainee advanced nurse practitioner/clinical nurse advisors providing a service of assessment, triage, initial management, and ongoing referral for patients in the Redesign of Urgent Care and Access to Urgent Care programmes.

Working in an advanced capacity within agreed protocols the post holder is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered to patients across Lothian. He or she is also responsible for providing expert professional and clinical assessment and advice, for providing specialist education and training programmes for health care professionals and other professional groups, and for implementing and undertaking research activities ensuring evidence-based practice in the specialist area.

To work in the United Kingdom, you must demonstrate that you have the relevant permission to work in the country, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. This post requires PVG Scheme membership or record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case.
