Position: Haematology Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Anp) Annex 21
Location: City of Edinburgh

Position

Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in Haematology – Band 7 qualified ANP or trainee ANP employed under annexe 21 framework with ANP qualification and training to be completed within a 2 year period.

Posts

1.0 WTE (36 hours per week). Days: hours will be worked over a 4/5 day week.

Location

Haematology Service, NHS Fife – outpatient clinics, inpatient ward (Ward 34 Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy) and Haematology/Oncology Day Unit at Victoria Hospital. Edinburgh, Scotland, GB.

Overview

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced nurses to join the Haematology Service. The ANP role will provide specialist care, assist in assessment, diagnosis and management of all Haematology patients, lead outpatient clinics and a pancytopenia management area to allow out‑patient management following intensive chemotherapy regimens and stem cell procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, examine, manage and treat patients receiving Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy (SACT) and supportive care or admitted due to symptoms of treatment or haematological disease.
  • Lead discussions within the multidisciplinary team and provide expert clinical advice.
  • Provide direct patient management in partnership with senior medical staff, demonstrating sound clinical knowledge and highly developed decision‑making skills.
  • Develop and improve the service, implementing evidence‑based standards, guidelines, procedures and policies across healthcare boundaries.
  • Educate and support staff, patients, and carers to ensure a seamless service.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified ANP with experience in Haematology/Oncology nursing (preferred).
  • Appropriately experienced nurses may apply as trainee ANP under annex 21; relevant experience, academic qualifications and willingness to undertake training are required.
  • Experience in SACT A and B chemotherapy administration.
  • Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills.
Training and Development

Expectation for all post holders to undertake any training deemed pertinent to the role.
