Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Infection Control Nurse based at University Hospital Crosshouse
. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours:

36 hours per week.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence:

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What you will do:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced nurse to join NHS Ayrshire & Arrans multidisciplinary Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPCT) as a Senior Infection Control Nurse.

The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in driving infection prevention strategies, supporting service improvement, and ensuring compliance with national standards.

You will be based at Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse, working closely with colleagues across Ayrshire and Arran.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

The post holder will be a core member of the IPCT reporting directly to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control. The successful candidate requires:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Post-graduate qualification in infection prevention and control
  • Educated to or operating at masters level
  • Extensive senior-level experience in Infection Prevention and Control, with strong knowledge of the NHS Scotland HAI agenda and collaboration with national agencies
  • Proven leadership ability, including working independently, leading change, and developing capability within multidisciplinary teams
  • Skilled in clinical audit, benchmarking, quality improvement, and the identification and mitigation of clinical risks
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering service improvement within complex environments
  • Car driver with own transport is essential
