Outdoor/Nature/Animal Care
Outdoor / Nature
As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people.
You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call.
What it's like to work hereAs a property, the High Peak in the Peak District is at the forefront of conservation - managing the land through a small, dedicated team, to the highest international standards for conservation, access and wider public benefits.
We have a leading strategy for nature and people thriving in the High Peak, encompassing the creation of clough woodlands and restoration of wildlife rich ecosystems across large areas of moorland, all managed extensively through agri-environment agreements and farm tenancies.
As a Ranger, you'll be part of a small flexible operational team. You'll work integrally with volunteers and other Rangers to support our conservation work across a large area. Using seasonal work programmes, you'll help maintain and deliver large scale moorland conservation work, contributing towards our Land and Nature targets. You'll be responsible for elements of day-to-day estate management and maintenance, maintaining excellent standards of presentation and access infrastructure across some of the High Peaks busiest and most iconic locations.
Whatyou'll be doing
You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.
You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what's possible in this role.
