Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Care Assistant to join our veterinary practice. This role involves supporting veterinarians and veterinary nurses in providing high-quality care to animals. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in animal health, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Previous veterinary experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

This is a part‑time role working 30 hours per week, including early and late shifts. Working every third Saturday or Sunday is non‑negotiable.
Responsibilities- Assisting veterinary staff with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Preparing and sterilising surgical instruments and equipment
- Handling animals safely and compassionately during consultations and procedures
- Maintaining accurate records of patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results
- Supporting laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and analysis
- Cleaning kennels, treatment areas, and equipment to ensure a hygienic environment
- Managing stock levels of medical supplies and ordering as necessary
- Providing excellent customer service to pet owners and visitors
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Prior veterinary experience is highly desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Genuine interest in animal health and welfare
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners
- Ability to work flexibly within a busy practice setting
- A valid right to work in the UK is essential
