About Ooni

Since launching the world's first portable wood‑pellet fired pizza oven back in 2012, Ooni has grown into an award‑winning, multi‑national business with a product range that is loved by people around the world.

We're beginning an exciting new phase of the Ooni journey. Our focus has always been on creating innovative products that spark joy in our customers and we're proud of everything we've achieved so far – however, we’re only just getting started.

As part of a refreshed approach, we have identified opportunities to re‑prioritise; streamline and strengthen core processes and activities across the team. This is where you come in. We are looking for a leader with extensive experience in Product Quality and Compliance to head up our Quality, Compliance and Test function. You will set the vision, direction, and goals for the team, ensuring our products meet the highest safety, performance, and regulatory standards across global markets.

The Role

This role is central to our new product development and manufacturing activities, and to broader business strategy. You will lead the prevention and resolution of significant or complex quality, compliance, and regulatory issues. You will be charged with driving process improvements that safeguard product safety, consumer trust, and brand reputation. You will also lead the testing and assessment of our products (and those of our competitors) to objectively determine performance, quality & conformity.

This role needs to spend 4 days per week on site at our offices in Broxburn, Edinburgh, with some time at our office at Edinburgh Park.

What you'll do
  • Ensure the capture and maintenance of product requirements related to quality & compliance (Q&C)
  • Partner with the engineering, manufacturing, and Supply Chain to embed Design for Quality and robust validation and verification processes.
  • Oversee the investigation and resolution of quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure all products meet applicable regulatory requirements for gas, chemical, electrical safety and all others.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant standards and sources of this information.
  • Manage product certification processes with notified bodies and certification agencies.
  • Oversee technical file creation and maintenance, declarations of conformity, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure documentation, labelling, and user manuals comply with legal and safety requirements.
  • Audit and approve suppliers and contract manufacturers for compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with procurement on supplier quality agreements.
  • Ensure that our product suppliers implement adequate QA & QC processes that deliver the high quality of product that our customers should expect.
  • Lead risk management processes for consumer products.
  • With the customer experience and continuous improvement engineering teams, monitor field performance, product issues, and incident investigations.
You will also
  • Chair internal quality and compliance reviews, reporting to the leadership team.
  • Champion a culture of safety, compliance, and accountability across the business.
  • Oversee the product test team and ensure the systems, capacity and capabilities are in place to meet our product ambitions.
  • Define and oversee the KPIs for quality and safety performance, including safety incidents, supplier quality, field returns, and consumer complaints.
What you’ll need to succeed

Essential:

  • Excellent people‑leadership and development skills.
  • Excellent communications skills - in particular, making the complex simple to understand.
  • Significant experience in quality and regulatory compliance within consumer products, preferably appliances, cooking, or gas/electrical products both in development and manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of global product safety standards and certification processes.
  • Proven leadership in implementing and maintaining a QMS.
