About the Role

We are seeking an experienced QHSE Manager to lead and continuously improve our Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) framework across operational sites, projects, and technical services.

This is a hands‑on leadership position that combines strategic governance with operational delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and embedding a strong safety and quality culture within a high‑hazard industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Risk Management
  • Lead the development and implementation of the company's Safety Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, including DSEAR, PSSR, HASAWA, LOLER, and PUWER.
  • Support the safe design, construction, commissioning, and operation of industrial process facilities.
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation activities.
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee permit‑to‑work (PTW) and management of change (MOC) processes.
  • Manage contractor safety, site inductions, and supplier compliance.
  • Develop emergency response and business continuity plans.
  • Ensure statutory reporting requirements, including RIDDOR compliance, are met.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting obligations.
  • Develop and maintain environmental management systems aligned with ISO 14001 principles.
  • Support sustainability and ESG initiatives.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
Quality Management
  • Own and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Develop and improve business processes, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure effective document control and governance practices.
  • Manage non‑conformances and corrective/preventive action processes.
  • Oversee supplier quality management and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Lead internal audit programmes across Quality, Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Manage external audits, including ISO, client, and regulatory assessments.
  • Monitor compliance performance and drive improvement plans.
  • Provide assurance to senior leadership on adherence to company procedures and standards.
Training & Culture
  • Deliver QHSE training and awareness programmes.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Support managers and leaders in fulfilling their QHSE responsibilities.
  • Drive behavioural safety initiatives throughout the business.
  • Proven QHSE, HSE, EHS, or SHEQ leadership experience within a high‑hazard industry.
  • Experience in sectors such as:
  • Hydrogen
  • Oil & Gas
  • Chemicals
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulatory requirements, including DSEAR, PSSR, HASAWA, environmental permitting, and related legislation.
  • Experience managing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience leading audits, investigations, compliance programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
