Assistant Technician 1 – Charles River Laboratories
Join our team at Charles River Laboratories, a leading contract research organization that has been supporting drug discovery and development for 75 years. Our work impacts the health and well‑being of people worldwide, and we are looking for a dedicated Technician to join our Immunology, Bioanalysis & Biomarkers team in Riccarton, Edinburgh.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide essential laboratory support across the Biomarker, Immunochemistry and Molecular Biology groups, assisting with sample management and day‑to‑day assay operations.
Key Responsibilities- Material ordering, receipt, management and delivery
- Tube and sample preparation
- Preparation of reagents and solutions
- Use of balances, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment
- Laboratory organisation and cleaning duties
- Monitoring and maintaining consumable levels
- General equipment maintenance
- Maintaining accurate records of consumables, samples and equipment
- Effective communication with stakeholders
- Sample receipt, management and delivery
- Cross‑training within the sample management team
- Minimum NAT5/Higher or equivalent qualification in two of Maths, Chemistry and Biology
- High attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong communication skills
- IT literate with experience of Microsoft applications
Salary: £23,842.35 annually.
Location:
Clearwater House, Riccarton, Edinburgh. Initial training and onboarding will take place at our site in Elphinstone, Tranent.
