Research nurses play a vital role in the delivery of NHS Lothian’s Research and Development objectives through the co‑ordination of studies, management of research data and the delivery of specialist nursing care required as part of the studies. As part of the clinical research team, Research Nurses will be responsible for direct and indirect care, associated data collection for research studies undertaken in the Clinical Research Facility (CRF), and maintaining clinical, staff and research governance in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines.
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients and volunteers participating in clinical research studies.
- Collect, manage and protect research data in line with GCP guidelines.
- Coordinate research studies and support multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain clinical, staff and research governance and ensure effective day‑to‑day running of research studies.
Required
- Registered Nurse with post‑registration experience.
- Understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Ability to manage research data and coordinate studies.
Desirable (optional)
- Experience in clinical research settings.
- Knowledge of research governance and ethics.
