Location: City of Edinburgh

Make your research matter on a global stage

At Edinburgh Napier University, we do things differently. We bring together talented people, bold ideas, and real-world partnerships to create impact where it matters most.

We’re now looking for a Research Fellow to join an exciting, globally significant initiative—the Animal Health as a Climate Solution Project
. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to pioneering research at the intersection of animal health, climate change and sustainability
, shaping solutions that influence policy and practice worldwide.

About the role

As the operational backbone of the work, you’ll coordinate a complex, multi-country programme—bringing together diverse stakeholders, managing timelines and ensuring high-quality delivery across research, policy and capacity‑building activities.

This is not a traditional research role. You’ll play a central part in a high-profile, international programme—working with governments, research institutions and global organisations to drive real-world impact on climate and livestock systems.

You’ll support the delivery of key research outputs, enable global collaboration through workshops and working groups, and contribute to translating research into policy insights. Alongside this, you’ll help drive knowledge exchange and maintain clear reporting to funders and partners, ensuring the programme runs smoothly and delivers meaningful impact.

For detailed role description, please see the attached document on our career page.

Who we’re looking for

We’re seeking someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced and international research environment, and who is motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible difference.

You’ll bring:

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as environmental science, veterinary science, livestock science or international development
  • Proven experience coordinating multi‑stakeholder projects, ideally across organisations or countries
  • Strong organisational, planning and communication skills
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset, with the confidence to work both independently and as part of a global team

It would be great if you also have:

  • Knowledge of livestock systems, animal health or agricultural emissions
  • Familiarity with climate policy frameworks (e.g. greenhouse gas inventories, NDCs, MRV systems)
  • Experience working with partners in low- and middle-income countries
  • Experience supporting research or policy-focused programmes
