Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: City of Edinburgh

An excellent opportunity to work with an innovative biotechnology company with a mission to improve how the world produces its meat. They contribute directly to a more sustainable and resilient food system, with a reduced environmental footprint and without harming animals.

They are looking to appoint a Laboratory Technician to help ensure their laboratories operate efficiently and effectively. Working alongside a team of scientists, you'll play an important role in supporting day-to-day laboratory operations, helping researchers focus on their science while ensuring the facilities, materials and supplies they need are always available.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career looking to build experience within a growing biotech environment. Whilst previous laboratory experience would be beneficial, the business is more focused on finding someone with the right attitude, flexibility and willingness to learn.

The Role

Working closely with the Laboratory Manager and scientific team, responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing reagents and laboratory materials for scientific activities
  • Supporting cell culture stock preparation and laboratory consumables management
  • Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating stock replenishment
  • Receiving, booking in and organising deliveries
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Supporting laboratory organisation and housekeeping activities
  • Assisting scientists with day-to-day laboratory requirements
  • Helping ensure laboratories remain fully operational and compliant

As a growing business, priorities can change quickly, so this role would suit someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable adapting to changing demands.

We’re keen to speak with individuals who have:
  • Previous laboratory experience or laboratory training
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities
  • Experience working with laboratory stock, consumables or inventory (desirable)
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques (advantageous)
Why Join?
  • Join a growing biotechnology business with exciting plans ahead
  • Work alongside an experienced team of scientists and researchers
  • Gain exposure to a broad range of laboratory operations
  • Varied and hands‑on role with no two days the same
  • Supportive and collaborative working culture
  • Opportunity to develop new skills and grow with the business
Details:
  • Monday-Friday, onsite

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being at the heart of a laboratory operation and wants to contribute to a growing scientific organisation.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
