About the FacilityEdinburgh’s Clinical Research Facility (CRF) incorporates The Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility at the WGH, the RIE Clinical Research Facility, Lothian Commercial Research Delivery Centre and Children’s Clinical Research Facility at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. Together they provide a streamlined service to investigators of all disciplines to conduct clinical research efficiently and safely.
RoleResearch nurses play a vital role in the delivery of NHS Lothian’s Research and Development objectives through the coordination of studies, management of research data and the delivery of specialist nursing care required as part of the studies. Responsibilities include delivering direct and indirect care and associated data collection for research studies undertaken in the CRF, in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines, ensuring the effective running of research studies on a day‑to‑day basis while maintaining clinical, staff and research governance.

To work in the United Kingdom, a person must demonstrate relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. Candidates must also meet the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme requirements and, if applicable, have a current PVG membership for the relevant regulatory group. A different level of criminal record check may be required from 1 April 2025 if the role is assessed as a regulated role.
