Responsibilities

• Join the Campopiano group in the School of Chemistry.
• Develop biocatalysts from waste molecules.
• Design methods to isolate and characterise biocatalysts.
• Develop high‑throughput screening for substrate conversion.
• Collaborate with C‑Loop scientists to transfer biocatalytic cascades into microbial hosts.
• Explore waste substrates and convert them into target molecules.

• Post‑doctoral scientist to join the Campopiano group in the School of Chemistry.
• Develop biocatalysts that convert low value, carbon‑containing waste molecules into high value chemicals.
• Design methods to isolate and characterise a range of recombinant, active biocatalysts.
• Use modern protein design/engineering tools to generate libraries of biocatalyst variants with improved properties.
• Develop methods to combine biocatalysts and chemocatalysts into efficient synthetic routes.
• Screen a range of microbes to isolate novel biocatalysts that can catalyse novel chemical reactions.
• Use protein characterisation methods to characterise, clone and express these novel biocatalysts.

Demonstrates expertise in developing and characterizing biocatalysts from waste molecules, utilizing modern protein design tools, and integrating biocatalysts with chemocatalysts for efficient synthetic processes.
