Role Overview

Veranova is seeking a Scientist - Analytical Research and Development to conduct R&D activities under the direction of project or technical leads.

Core Responsibilities
  • Exhibits safety awareness conducting lab and other operations in a safe manner holding themselves accountable for safe behaviour in the work environment.
    • Maintain work area in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
    • Ensure personal compliance with all safety related procedures or risk assessments.
  • Identify and support department programs around safety.
  • Working within the Veranova Quality System, carrying out scientific work as in line with this standard.
    • Keeps accurate, legible and complete records of all experiments, observations and equipment.
    • Follows all SOPs and produces development and technical reports, SOP’s and other documents to the required standards.
  • Develop, qualify and validate robust analytical procedures for analysis of raw materials, intermediates and final products. Assist with technical transfer of analytical methods to QC and external sites.
  • Provide analytical support for Production and Quality investigations.
  • Carry out troubleshooting to solve any analytical instrumentation problems.
  • Represents the Development department in cross departmental business projects.
  • Contributes to the design of experimental procedures and exercises technical judgement in the execution of procedures within the required timeline.
  • Demonstrates the ability to collect the relevant data, recognise patterns, and draw appropriate conclusions identifying problems from multiple information streams working under the guidance of Project or technical leads to recommend potential courses of action.
  • Demonstrates an ability to multi-task on a range of different activities differentiating between urgency and importance seeking guidance where required.
  • Takes ownership for own timelines seeking guidance where required to balance a variety of tasks.
  • Consistently demonstrates the competencies associated with this role.
  • To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Qualifications

Required

  • BSc/MSc or MChem in a chemistry related subject
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous industry experience in relevant areas with a defined area of expertise
  • Proficiency with relevant analytical techniques within an industry environment. Demonstrated ability to lead key technical areas effectively
  • Experience with high performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, Karl Fischer, FTIR, and UV Spectrophotometry
  • Demonstrates good judgment, quick decision-making skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office and relevant technical software; ability to write clear, concise technical reports and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
