To be able to work as part of a team (School team and kitchen team)
No history of food related illness ( D-7 Kitchen Manual – Pre-employment questionnaire)

Good personal hygiene

Qualifications and relevant training

Essential

Basic food hygiene

Nutrition and diet qualification or complete a level 2 course within 3 months of employment.

Full driving licence

Car owner and prepared to use own car for work (Business use on Car Insurance)
Desirable Staff supervisor qualifications

Craft cooking qualification

Training in food production skills

Training in food service skills.

Training in Health and Safety, e.g. moving and handling or first aid.

Training in selling skills.

Relevant experience

Cooking in a commercial kitchen or kitchen similar to a school kitchen

Job Description

Purpose of the post

  • Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
  • To go to kitchens at short notice because of the absence of the Cook in Charge. To prepare, supervise and organise food production and service in a kitchen. Occasionally assist with functions and provide kitchen staff one to one training.

  • Provide food – to include menu planning, ordering food, managing food quantities, prepare and cook food.
  • Comply with Health and Safety requirements and Food Safety that affects staff and other persons who may be using, visiting the site.
  • Ensure that good work practices are used by all Catering Staff and that the requirements of any relevant statutory provisions and Gwynedd Council Policies are met.
  • Arrange and supervise the food service including serving the food.
