Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Edinburgh for a Sales Representative (Independent Trade) at Shankar Foods. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with independent retailers, opening new accounts, managing sales orders, and ensuring product availability. A successful candidate will identify and engage potential clients, present product offerings, and provide excellent customer service. Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for market growth and expansion are key aspects of this position.

Collaboration with internal teams to achieve sales goals and ensuring client satisfaction are integral to this role.

Qualifications
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to meet sales targets and build client relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with clients and team collaboration
  • Organizational and time‑management abilities for handling multiple accounts and prioritizing responsibilities
  • Knowledge of the food industry, particularly within the World Foods or independent trade sector, is a plus
  • Willingness to work on‑site in Edinburgh and travel to meet clients as required
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office) for managing sales records and reports
  • Previous experience in sales, business development, or account management preferred but not mandatory
  • Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, and able to work independently
