Overview
As a Senior Practitioner within the Council's Information Governance Unit, you will support care‑experienced individuals in accessing their care files through the statutory Subject Access Request process and in obtaining redress for adverse experiences in care.
Responsibilities
• Work in strengths‑based and trauma‑informed ways to support care‑experienced individuals, their families, and carers in obtaining the restoral support they need.
• Collaborate with the Information Rights Team and Records & Archives Team to explain complex Data Protection and Social Work concepts, ensuring requesters understand their rights and managing expectations about historic record‑keeping issues.
• Assess each individual's needs and risks, working with families, carers, colleagues and partner agencies to remove barriers and maintain safety and wellbeing.
• Prepare clear, evidence‑based, risk‑assessed reports within required timescales, engaging partner agencies such as schools, the NHS, police and third‑sector organisations.
• Lead professional development, stay current with relevant theory, research and legislation, and actively participate in training and knowledge exchange.
Legal & Checks
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The candidate must join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check. An Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required for those who have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years. All pre‑employment checks must be satisfactory for an unconditional offer of employment.
