We are the largest non‑NHS provider of end‑of‑life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end‑of‑life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they’re likely to die from.

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

Join our dedicated team at Edinburgh Hospice as a Bereavement Services Co‑ordinator, where you'll play a vital role in helping people navigate their grief journey. In this rewarding role, you will:

• Coordinate referrals, undertaking initial assessments and triage, and ensuring people receive the most appropriate support for their needs.
• Manage waiting lists, caseloads and service allocations to ensure timely access to bereavement support.
• Facilitate bereavement support groups and coordinate the staff and volunteers who help deliver these services.
• Manage recruiting, training, supervising and supporting volunteers, ensuring they feel confident, safe and valued in their role.
• Provide compassionate bereavement support to individuals and families through face‑to‑face sessions, telephone calls, video appointments and support groups.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure families receive information, guidance and support following bereavement.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to bereaved individuals and identify when additional specialist support or external referrals may be required.
• liaise with healthcare professionals and community organisations to provide a joined‑up approach to bereavement care.
• Coordinate bereavement‑related events and encouraging participation from staff, volunteers and the wider community.
• Maintain accurate records, managing service administration and ensuring all activity meets Marie Curie policies and professional standards.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and supporting the wider priorities and objectives of Marie Curie.

• A recognised counselling qualification (DipHE, Foundation Degree in Counselling, or equivalent).
• Professional membership of BACP, IABACP, or another recognised counselling/psychotherapy body.
• Experience supporting people affected by bereavement, loss, or end‑of‑life issues.
• The ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, volunteers and external partners.
• Excellent organisational skills, with experience managing referrals and caseloads.
