Location: Newhaven area
Full-Time – 39 hours per week, including sleepovers and flexible shifts.
Key PointsDue to visa restrictions and shift requirements, candidates on restricted visas may be offered a maximum of 15 hours per week.
This is a regulated role and requires PVG Disclosure Scotland membership for adults and children.
Applicants who have lived outside the UK for more than 12 months in the last 10 years will be required to provide a Criminal Convictions Certificate (or equivalent) from the relevant country or countries. Cost of certificate will be the applicant's responsibility.
All applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Role PurposeThe main purpose of this post is to provide a caring, efficient and effective 24/7 support service to people who use The Action Group’s Services. This will include helping people develop their skills by supervising and participating in various support activities, enriching their opportunities and promoting choice.
Specific Duties- Practice the TAG Key Worker system, organising support plans and case reviews, ensuring handovers and maintaining records.
- Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of the people we support, including risk assessments.
- Actively develop meaningful and trusting relationships with the people we support.
- Encourage independence in daily living activities; support them only when necessary.
- Promote hobbies, interests and community participation; organise day trips and activities for young people.
- Assist with personal care as required.
- Help individuals communicate effectively and promote self‑advocacy.
- Advocate on behalf of people when needed (e.g., benefits, education, tenancy and employment).
- Work with relatives and carers, arranging support plans and addressing complaints.
- Discover local services, amenities and organisations available to people we support.
- Work with individuals and groups as appropriate.
- Participate flexibly in shift work patterns, including evenings and weekends.
- Regularly undertake sleepover or waking night duties.
- Cover short-term absences of Support Workers in other teams.
- Read TAG’s Mission, Aims & Objectives and Business Plan.
- Manage own work time effectively.
- Keep paperwork organised and maintain filing systems.

- Comply with TAG policies and procedures (Health & Safety, Care Commission Standards).

- Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) – with 6 months to register if not currently.
