Dean and Cauvin Young People’s Trust is one of Edinburgh’s oldest and established charities, providing residential group living and community, family and group work support to children, young people and families. This is an opportunity to join our Community and Transition team as a support worker. Based in our St. Johns Road Wellbeing Hub, we provide a range of practical, social and emotional 1:1, group and whole-family support to children, young people and families who have experiences of care to help them:

• Move on from residential living to independent life and living in the community
• Develop healthy relationships, connections and mental wellbeing
• Build confidence, education, skills and training

We work together with families, social work, health services and other colleagues to keep the strengths, aspirations and voice of children, young people and families at the heart of all we do while ensuring their safety and welfare is always maintained.

• Skilled in delivering a range of 1:1 and group interventions and supports
• Can work in a values‑led and rights‑focused way
• Has an understanding of the difficulties faced by young people who are or have recently been ‘looked after’ in a care setting
• Passionate about working alongside children, young people and families
• Able to build strong and effective relationships with young people who can be under‑represented
• Can develop and implement support that actively engages young men in community activities
• Able to deliver new ways of working including working mornings, evenings and weekends
• Can foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages young people’s participation and can support our young people to participate fully and influence the delivery of the service
