At Mallard Short Breaks, we provide a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for children and young people with disabilities to enjoy short break stays away from home. Every young person we support is different. Their interests, abilities, communication styles and support needs are individual to them, and so is the care we provide.
As a Lead Children’s Worker, you’ll provide hands-on support while taking additional responsibility for leading shifts and helping the team deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
You’ll work closely with children and young people, their families and other professionals to build confidence, encourage independence and create opportunities to learn, play and enjoy new experiences.
What you’ll do
* Lead shifts and support colleagues to provide safe, consistent care
* Provide personal care and support tailored to each child’s individual needs
* Plan activities that encourage confidence, independence and development
* Act as a key worker, developing and reviewing care plans, risk assessments and outcomes
* Build positive relationships with families and other professionals
* Support medication, documentation and the safe running of the service
About you
You’ll have an SVQ Level 3 in Social Care (Children), HNC or equivalent SCQF Level 7 qualification, along with experience of working with children, ideally those with additional support needs. You’ll be confident supporting young people who may display behaviour that challenges and able to remain calm when situations are demanding. With strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills, you’ll be ready to take on additional responsibility, lead a shift and build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
Ready to make a difference?
If you’re ready to take the next step and help children and young people feel safe, supported and able to thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today and join the team at Mallard Short Breaks.

As we do our work in Christ’s name you must be respectful of our Christian Ethos and be able to work within it.
