Randstad are recruiting for a Senior Practitioner to join Edinburgh City Council's Children's and Families Team. This is a full time role offering a fantastic competitive pay rate.

- Undertaking direct work with children, young people, and their families where problems are highly complex, demanding advanced social work skills, and often involve issues of personal liberty or safety.
- Child Protection and Risk Assessment:
Conducting and reviewing clear and accurate assessments of need and risk, including balancing protective and risk factors within a child protection framework. - Leading the planning, implementation, review, and evaluation of complex Child's Plans to ensure the best possible outcomes for children, in line with statutory guidance like the Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) framework.
- Fulfilling the Council's statutory obligations to protect and promote the welfare of children, including preparing comprehensive and concise reports for Children's Hearings and other statutory forums.
- Working collaboratively as the Lead Professional (where applicable) with partner agencies such as Police Scotland, NHS, and education, ensuring effective multi-disciplinary decision-making.
- Providing a high level of expertise, autonomy, and competence, modelling exemplary practice for other team members and providing professional advice and consultation to less experienced staff and partner agencies.
- Providing professional supervision, support, and mentorship to identified members of the team, which may include Newly Qualified Social Workers or Family Support Workers.
- Contributing to the quality assurance of the team's work, including contributing to the screening, prioritisation, and allocation of referrals in line with council policies.
- Deputising for the Team Manager/Field Work Manager as required, which may include chairing multi-agency meetings (like Initial Referral Discussions or Child Protection Case Conferences) or representing the service at internal or external meetings.
- Contributing to the development, review, and embedding of departmental and Council strategies, policies, and procedures to achieve continuous service improvement and help implement practice change.
- Undertaking research and analysis to support improvements in practice and promoting a high standard of professional social work across the team.
