The School Transport Assistant role in Niddrie involves supporting children on their daily journeys, ensuring a safe and positive experience. Based in EH16 4BB
, you will begin each shift at the depot before assisting with supervision, clear communication with drivers and school staff, and helping children with mobility aids or equipment. This part-time, temporary contract offers a minimum of 20 hours weekly on split shifts, paying £14.27 per hour. A PVG certificate is required for safeguarding, costing £59 for new applicants. Key Responsibilities
  • Supportive Supervision:

  • Mobility and Equipment Assistance:
    Help children safely in and out of the vehicle, including those who use mobility aids or specialised equipment.
Requirements
  • Empathy and Patience: A genuine passion for helping children with additional support needs.
  • Experience:

    Previous experience in a similar role or working with children with disabilities is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong Communication

    Skills:

    Ability to communicate calmly and effectively with children, families, and team members.
