About the role and team

You will form part of a cross-functional agile team, working closely with 3-5 other engineers, led by a Tech Lead, and working closely with QA, Product and Design to deliver high-quality work for clients across a number of industries. We strive to create the best product possible with everyone's effort, and you'll be an integral part of that mission. Your role in the team is highly valued, and you'll be a key player in ensuring the success of our projects.

We define our Lead role as someone who is able to confidently champion technical improvements, sets the bar high for best engineering practices and takes responsibility for the overall success of the project for the client and Create Future.

What you'll be doing
  • Full-Stack Development:
Design, develop, and test both frontend and backend components using a combination of React, Azure, Node.js, JavaScript, Type Script, and Java.
  • Backend Development:
Building robust and efficient backend systems using Java, RESTful APIs, and database technologies.
  • Frontend Development:
You will bring frontend development experience with excellent knowledge of JavaScript and modern SPA frameworks (React, Vue.js, Angular, Svelte, etc.).
  • Technical Leadership:
Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge and promote software engineering best practices. You will also lead the technical direction on your client project and ensure that your solutions are well understood and implemented.
  • Problem-Solving:
Identify and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Collaboration:

Work closely with the full project team (including BAs, QAs and client team members) to provide the best solutions to our clients.
  • Continuous Improvement:
Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.
What you'll bring
  • Commercial experience with one or more technical stacks:
React, Node.js, Azure, JavaScript, Type Script (Backend/Frontend), Automation, or Mobile (native and/or cross-platform).
  • Skilled at using modern cloud infrastructure, with experience deploying and hosting applications on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Actively facilitates and encourages knowledge sharing within your client team and the wider Engineering department.
  • Advocates for best engineering practices such as code reviews, paired programming and automated tests.

Nice to have

  • Familiar with Dev Ops concepts and CI/CD.
  • Experience with tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Splunk, Chef, Puppet or Grafana.
What we'll offer

We trust people to do their best work, offering flexibility over rigid rules, impact over activity, and real investment in growth both professionally and personally. You'll be part of a supportive, friendly culture with smart, curious people who care deeply about their work. We offer flexible working, including hybrid and remote options. Our office hubs are located in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, London and Bulgaria, with occasional travel to client sites or Create Future offices when needed.

We trust you to manage your time balancing collaboration with client time and focused work. What matters is the impact you have, not how busy you look.
