Senior Software Engineer - Core Marketing Platforms

Fan Duel is looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to join our Core Marketing Platforms vertical where our teams are building new products, features, and services to support and enable Fan Duel’s Marketing teams. This role requires a technical thought leader who will work with minimal guidance and focus on Fan Duel’s most complex, ambiguous problems, driving outcomes around programming languages, architecture, products, tools, approaches, and processes.

The senior engineer will own the technical strategy for an engineering vertical, with responsibility for technical architecture and operational excellence.

• Provide mentorship and guidance for other Engineers, serving as a role model and supporting their career progression and improving their technical knowledge of engineering practices.
• Ensure services and platforms are stable and scalable whilst future‑proofing our technology.
• Be the subject matter expert and voice of the technical roadmap and champion of technical initiatives.
• Involved in technical design, strategy, and roadmaps, while also prepared to write code and pair‑program with engineers.
• Embody “simpler is always better,” reducing the complexity of the systems where you contribute.
• Challenge the status quo and influence other verticals and the organization’s “North Star” technical strategy.
• Regularly interact with executives up to the c‑suite, distilling relevant information from a complex technical strategy and incorporating relevant business strategy into technical strategies.

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience. 7+ years of relevant work experience OR 5+ years of relevant work experience with a MS in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Technical background with exposure to Java, AWS, and potentially Lambdas or Kafka.
• Experience building or contributing to an advanced shared library, design system, or SDK.
• Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
• Knowledge of web libraries and frameworks, such as Type Script, React, Angular, and/or Bootstrap.
• Experience influencing technical outcomes across Engineering verticals.
• Expert experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing and best practices into the SDLC.
• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
• Experienced in making pragmatic trade‑offs between short‑term needs and long‑term needs.
• Passion for working within a fast‑paced environment and ability to adapt to change.

We operate a hybrid model for the majority of our roles, where we normally spend a day or two in the office per week.
