Harvey Nash's public sector client are currently looking to recruit a Developer to join their team based in Edinburgh for an initial 12 month period. This role is predominantly remote, with the expectation you are willing to travel to the office when required.

Assignment

Description:

An experienced developer with solid commercial AWS development experience is required to accelerate the organisation's move away from their legacy finance systems. The focus of the work will be the collaborative development of new serverless microservices using AWS Lambda functions and Typescript/JavaScript.

Essential

Skills:
  • Significant commercial experience in AWS technologies (CDK, Serverless Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Cloud Formation) and Typescript or modern JavaScript.
  • Significant and demonstrable commercial experience in collaborating on high-quality software with other developers and stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering value through understanding business context and focusing on outcomes.
  • Design and implementation of solutions using a service-based, serverless architecture.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery models such as Scrum and/or Kanban.
  • Developing within GDS or Digital First (or similar) quality standards.
  • Experience with cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools and processes.
  • Formal XP engineering techniques, including pair programming and test-driven development.
  • Defining infrastructure-as-code.
Desirable

Skills:
  • Human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices.
  • Testing tools and frameworks, e.g. Cypress.
  • Use of UI pattern libraries to achieve consistent, tested and high-quality interfaces.
