We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Operations Supervisor to join our depot management team. This is a hands‑on role responsible for supervising both Driver and Warehouse operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective running of daily depot activities.
The RoleAs an Operations Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring our morning and/or evening parcel sort operations run smoothly while maintaining high standards of service, safety, and operational performance. Working closely with the Depot Manager, you will lead, support, and develop both Driver and Warehouse teams, ensuring operational targets and customer expectations are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise the day‑to‑day operation of the depot, ensuring all parcel sort activities are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Act as a key member of the depot management team, providing leadership and support to Driver and Warehouse colleagues.
- Manage and oversee Driver and Warehouse teams, ensuring productivity and performance standards are met.
- Plan and coordinate delivery routes within the AM operation, considering delivery time frames, postcode areas, vehicle restrictions, and customer collections.
- Ensure all customer collections within the PM operation are allocated to the correct routes and completed within required timescales.
- Deliver training and coaching to employees, agency workers, and subcontractors, including inductions, systems training, and updates to standard operating procedures.
- Monitor operational KPIs and take appropriate action to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure full compliance with vehicle maintenance schedules, transport regulations, and any unplanned events such as breakdowns or accidents.
- Investigate and report on accidents, employee matters, security concerns, and other operational issues as required.
- Complete all operational reports and administrative duties accurately and within deadlines.
- Promote and maintain a strong Health and Safety culture across the depot.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure completion through regular follow‑up and monitoring.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient warehouse environment.
- Manage stock and inventory control processes.
- Load and unload vehicles using forklift trucks.
- Act as a key holder for the depot, including opening and securing the premises when required.
To be successful in this role, you will have strong operational supervision experience, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to motivate and lead teams in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to learn and utilise bespoke systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and develop teams effectively.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience completing operational reports and administrative tasks accurately.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements within a warehouse environment.
- Strong customer service focus with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
- Basic understanding of route planning and operational logistics.
- Forklift Truck licence (or willingness to undertake training).
- Previous experience within a parcel distribution, logistics, transport, or warehouse environment.
