Removals Porters

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable Removals Porter to join our Johnson's team in the Edinburgh region. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and transportation of office and household furniture.

• Safely package items before removal or storage.
• Wrap and protect furniture into special wrappings and packing cases for shipping overseas.
• Pre-emptively wrap and pack delicate items such as china, glass, artwork and antiques before moving.
• Use packaging to protect fragile items such as computers or antiques.
• Disassemble larger furniture items for packing and removal.
• Remove curtains and lift carpets if needed.
• Remove doors, door frames or windows to allow large pieces of furniture in or out of buildings.
• Pack items, load them into vehicles and secure them safely.
• Check that all goods are securely fastened before driving off.
• Drive to the new location, unload items, reassemble large pieces and place them as requested by the customer.
• Unwrap furniture and unpack cartons.

• Valid driving licence.
• Experience in removal or a similar role preferred.
• Flexible working hours, available to work as and when required. Moves between longer distances may involve overnight stays in lodging or a vehicle.
