Summary: The Architectural Sales Director will be responsible to develop MSI’s A&D business/team in the NJ/NY area and eventually lead a team of high-performing architectural sales representatives, providing guidance, support, and coaching to enhance individual and collective sales performance. They will play a key role in promoting our counter top, flooring and hardscape products and be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with architects, designers, specifiers, and other industry professionals to increase brand awareness, generate leads, and ultimately drive revenue growth.
Work Hours: Monday to Friday from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM, 1 Saturday(s) a month from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Compensation: This salaried, exempt position pays from $110,000 to $135,000 per year. The estimated annual pay for new hires generally ranges from $115,000 to $165,000 or more, depending on experience, education level and annual bonuses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow revenue by $3-5m annually, depending on the team size, and achieve macro and micro sales targets/objectives in the architectural market segment.
  • Identify and prioritize key architectural firms, design studios, and other relevant stakeholders to establish and nurture relationships that brings new customers to MSI.
  • Actively prospect and engage with architects, designers, and specifiers to promote our products and services, resulting in MSI products being specified in current and future projects.
  • Collaborate with HR and senior management to recruit, onboard, and retain top talent within the architectural sales team.
  • Implement training programs and professional development initiatives to continuously enhance the skills and capabilities of the architectural sales team, ensuring they are equipped to excel in their roles and contribute to overall company objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing and product team to develop targeted marketing materials, presentations, and product samples tailored to the architectural and design audience.
  • Provide comprehensive product education and training sessions to architects, designers, and other decision-makers in the A&D space to showcase the features, benefits, and applications of our broad product offering.
  • Track project opportunities through all stages of development, working cross functionally with local and national sales and operations teams to ensure accurate execution of all project goals and timelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of project specifications, requirements, and timelines, allowing for meaningful follow-up with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of any issues or concerns throughout the construction process.
  • Set clear performance expectations, goals, and KPIs for the architectural sales team, regularly monitoring progress, providing constructive feedback, and recognizing achievements to foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to enhance brand visibility, expand our network within the architectural community, and identify future project opportunities.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to identify opportunities and potential challenges, and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including modifying and manipulating Excel spreadsheets, creating PowerPoint presentations, and using Outlook email and calendaring systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to review, analyze, and summarize various sales and market reports to identify trends, sales potential, and measure success.
  • Travel 25-75% locally, occasionally nationally and/or internationally.
